Perspective

What if for a moment you would entertain the thought that you actually live in a two dimensional world? And to you this world is the only one you know as true. You spend your days moving about, strolling side-to-side and up-and-down, being none the wiser that your world is flat.

Now, imagine that someone comes into your world and begins to descibe to you a world of depth and dimension. Where things not only have a front, but a back and sides as well. Would you believe that this world existed? And even if you did believe could you conceive it as well?

They even tell you that not only can you live in this 3 dimensional world but that it is already here and that your world is part of it. I think many of us would be skeptical.

I can't see it, but it is here.

I can't touch it but I am in this world

Maybe one day we catch a fragment of a glimpse of this world and then it vanishes, leaving us with a deep insatiable longing for more.

Security and a Blankey

A blankey seems like a silly item once we become adults. We are secure when we are surrounded by someone who loves us. When they are near we can face anything, withstand any assault, endure any hardship. But when we are alone, or perceive that we are alone then we become insecure.

I can remember growing up and being afraid of the dark. Actually for a year after my great grandfather died I had these nightmares that seemed to be happening right in my bedroom. So I would never sleep on my stomach nor go without my covers. I needed the security of being covered no matter how flimsy that security actually was. We find security in the oddest places and cover ourselves with flimsy transparent things that can't actually protect us.

They are only an illusion.

Now where is my blankey . . . aahh there it is.
